As she started running away from the others, she began to pick up her sprinting speed immensely. The environment or the world around her started to blur within seconds as she ran, realizing she was not running fast like a normal human. She saw not just the ground swiftly changing as she ran, the entire environment around her was passing in terms of seconds. She was running at the speed faster than a car, faster than a jet, faster than---

  THUMP! BASH!

Trixie tripped over another obstacle in her path, landing on grass which was an empty soccer field by the associated secondary school. Stopping dead in her tracks, breathing heavily, she was panicking. She was about to pull the hairs out from the sides of her head. She walked around in a hyperactive mood while panicking. She cried; “What do I do? What is happening to me? Is this a dream?”

Trixie inspected herself and pinched herself, even had part of her right cheek bleeding from a scratch due to resulting debris or a branch that got in the way of her path as the world was spinning too fast for her mind to even comprehend what was going on. She was panting hard, barely could breathe after running that fast. She wondered to herself, how fast was she running? Looking around she saw the ends of the soccer fields which gave her an idea. She tested her ability and ran super-fast like a bullet towards the goalpost and touched it. “This has got to be a trick,” she said to herself. She refused to believe what was going on and wanted to make sure that it was all fake or some weird lucid dream, but it felt very real due to her injury on her cheek and pinching herself was proof enough.

Taking out her phone, she went onto the clock app. She placed the timer on and ran across the soccer field fast like a speeding bullet, touching the next goal post. She looked at her phone as she ended the stopwatch function on the clock app. It resulted in less than 2 seconds.

Trixie trembled with shock and terror, “That’s impossible!”

Repeatedly, she ran back and forth to the opposite ends of the soccer field goal posts repeatedly, recording with the stopwatch function on her phone. It kept resulting as 2 seconds or less throughout. She refused to believe what was on going as her record time improved each run by milliseconds. Even resemblance of a speed trail was forming, with accordance to her pastel hair colors forming. The speed trail was faded, translucent wavy like faded frames, as if it showed previous movements of herself in an animation.

She thought to herself deeply, should I really give my ability the full ultimate test run? The pale scrawny white teen with medium length hair began to swift her feet through the grass and thrusted forward, running very fast. Everything in front of her was becoming mirages since the world around her was beginning to fade fast as she ran faster and faster North West of Allentown in the Pennsylvanian State. Trixie was not entirely sure if she was at her top sprinting speed, frames of her previous moments began to show and fade as she ran through the streets and neighborhoods of Allentown. Running continuously, dodging obstacles on the way, and jumping if necessary, to prevent tripping especially at her accelerated sprinting speed. Mere minutes later, she traveled more than 280 kilometers and was about to approach the prohibited forest land. Slowing down in her tracks, stopped dead on her feet, about to hit a sign that said:

  Forrest H. Dutlinger

  Natural Area

Protected Land – Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted

“Too far!” Trixie exclaimed. She was worried that she would lose her way back home and the public potentially seeing a 14-year-old with pure white hair with pastel rainbow colors strands appearing. Forrest H. Dutlinger Natural Area was an extraordinary humongous forest full of natural greenery, with tons of spruce pine trees. Trixie wished she could go inside those woods one day, but it was protected land and extremely strict unless you reasoned with the wildlife services.

She started to run swiftly but forgot the direction to get home. Luckily, she had her phone and pulled up Google maps as she entered directions of her home from her current location. When she discovered how many kilometers she traveled, she simply said “Wow.” She followed the directions on her google maps, running and running as the world around her was passing by her in mere seconds. After a couple of minutes, she arrived back into her neighborhood, in front of her home.

She was now thinking about how to hide her abilities from her family and friends, especially her white hair with pastel colors appearing on it. Her silky bangs of hair were all pure white, only very few pastel color strands appeared. Trixie put on her hoodie and began to cover her hair with it as she entered home. Valerie heard the front door open and said aloud: “Veronica, Tracy?”

Trixie suddenly got very scared, as she rushed in the coat closet as her mother approached the front door to see who entered. Trixie stopped breathing as her mother passed by the coat closet and headed towards the kitchen. This was Trixie’s chance. She slowly came out of the closet and used her super-speed ability uncontrollably to run to her parents’ master bathroom in search of hair dye.

Trixie found a hair dye product, that dyes your hair very dark brown, which would look dark enough to look like jet black. Her mother was coming upstairs. Trixie ran towards the bathroom adjacent to Veronica’s bedroom. She locked the bathroom door and slid down where she lay staring at the wall. She was beginning to panic, while grabbing her white hair with pastel colors. She was worried sick of when her parents and friends would find out about her transformation.

She stood up and heard her mother approaching the bathroom door. “Veronica, Tracy is that you?”

Trixie began to panic; her heart was beating over hundreds of beats per minute. She felt a cold sensation as her heart shivered, due to her sheer nervousness of her mother being on the other side of the door. She had to reply to her mother before her mother suspected that it was a stranger in the house.

“Yeah, its me Mom,” Tracy replied nervously.

“You’re home so early,” Valerie responded in a confused manner. “Are you okay? Feeling sick? And honey did you take my hair dye from my bathroom?”

“Yeah Mom,” Tracy continued and stuttered in her speech. “I just wanted to dye my hair into a brown-ish colour, just getting tired of the colour I have on my head. I am okay Mom.”

“I can help you out with your hair, honey,” Valerie spoke in a suggestive tone.

“No no no no,” Tracy was panicking as she looked in the mirror. She witnessed another streak of hair color start to appear, it was magenta colored strand of hair appearing. “Oh no,” she muttered in a low tone.

  “What did you say Tracy?”

“I’m okay Mom, can you just please let me be, I will talk to you later, please Mom, I need some time to myself. Sorry I stole your dye.”

Valerie nodded in a confused manner, “Okay. Just let me know if you are having trouble with my hair dye.” As Valerie walked back downstairs, she muttered to herself “Kids, must be going through puberty.”

Trixie waited for 30 seconds, to make sure that her mother was not suspiciously standing on the other side of the bathroom door. She looked at herself in the mirror, touching the strands of her pure white hair with pastel pink, magenta, green, purple, and yellow strands. What could this mean, she wondered. Why did pastel colours suddenly appeared when she was around her friends and suddenly another pastel colour appeared with the presence of her mother?

She tried to rewind her memory at the time she went unconscious and ended up in that cavern in the woods during the manhunt with her friends and classmates. The words Stellar and Being were stuck in her head for some odd reason, as in Stellar-Being. That term kept repeating in her mind, but she could not remember why or how she got these abilities. Why do I have these abilities and hair colour, she kept wondering. What could it mean? The words Stellar-Being still repeated in her mind. Am I what they call, a Stellar-Being, a human being with the abilities and powers like the Superior-Beings had many years ago but this time in the 21st Century?

As she held up the hair dye product, she read the instructions carefully and told herself that it better be worth it. After a tiring 30 to 40 intensive minutes following the instructions very carefully, she washed herself and cleaned up the mess in the washroom. She looked in the mirror and saw that her entire hair was dark brown now, all the white and pastel colours were finally gone. She let out a huge sigh of relief. “Eh, gotta get used to the coca coloration now,” Tracy talked to herself and raised up her hands in the symbolism of I do not know and shrugged her shoulders.

The bathroom door was being banged; Tracy jumped a bit. “Hey, Trace could you get out of there, I need the bathroom badly!” Veronica spoke eagerly.

Tracy exited the washroom, she only got a glimpse second of Veronica, she began to feel a very cold sensation around her feet, as if the air conditioning were lowered to 19 degrees Celsius or smaller. Tracy saw Veronica’s ginger hair looking a little uneven and not smooth nor silky anymore. But what Tracy did not know was that a pastel orange strand of her hair started to appear, which caused the white hair to slowly come back and overcome the dark brown dye, alongside with the previous pastel colours that had developed earlier in the day.

  Chapter 5

  Frostbite

  Date: September 9th, 2020

Veronica, with her pale skin and freckles covering her face and skin, saw Trixie running away saying that she was not feeling well. But before anyone could go after her, she was already gone in mere seconds, that no one could see her from a distance away or visible to the naked eye. She, Aiden, Luis, and Sandra looked at each other as the Trinity Guys along with others scouted around the woods looking for Trixie.

“What was that all about?” Luis spoke. “Did she say she was not feeling well? I heard her scream; something must be wrong.”

“I think she is having a sugar rush again,” Veronica replied. “We should head back to your place, Luis. I will go check on Trixie at home.”

Luis nodded and they started to walk back towards his place to make sure his mother was not too worried about losing track of himself and the other kids. They all ended up at Luis’s house, letting Miss Lockwood know that everything was fine, but that Trixie headed home since she was not feeling well.

“Alright, guys thanks for the time, but do let me know if Trixie is fine, Veronica,” Luis said. “I gotta scoot guys, have an archery tournament in an hour.”

Veronica proceeded to walk back home while Aiden, Luis, Sandra, and the others split ways after wrapping up Luis’s birthday party, despite Trixie’s absence. Veronica headed towards the convenience store on her way back home. She was a very shy person, but always was full of spirit and confidence. Veronica has been criticized based on her appearance of having lots of freckles covering her face and cheeks, which did bring her some hate influence from others whenever they saw her. But deep down, behind those freckles of hers, showed her true beauty as a simple ginger or redhead girl.

As she walked towards the convenience store, she was beginning to feel weary, dreary and drowsy. She was beginning to lose balance walking towards the convenience store, and she collapsed suddenly. Allison and Luis from a distance witnessed that and ran towards her, since they lived close by in the same neighborhood.

“Veronica?” Allison asked in panic “Can you hear me?”

Luis and Allison were genuinely concerned on why she suddenly fainted.

The same vastness of space appeared and surrounded Veronica, as she witnessed it the first time like Trixie did a little while ago. Veronica was astonished by the vastness of space around her in this space trance dream kind of sequence that was going on, that still felt real and lucid at the same time. She looked up at the entity, who was Mr. Universe, as previously Trixie saw. She was a little nervous as she looked at the entity with the vast cosmos surrounding her.

“Is this a dream trance?” Veronica asked curiously.

“I would say neither a dream nor real life,” Mr. Universe spoke in a soothing tone.

“Then, where am I?” Veronica spoke curiously. “And why am I here? Who are you?”

“You have been chosen,” Mr. Universe spoke elegantly. “You are pure of heart, full of honesty. You are shy, gentle and an elegant child. I will be asking you a set of questions and you will be granted powers, abilities or techniques to help benefit this world. You will be a Stellar-Being.”

“Stellar-Being?” Veronica spoke questioningly. “Like an angel in the stars?”

“You will be something unique and still human,” Mr. Universe spoke in a peaceful tone. “After you answer these 3 questions honestly and dedicatedly.”

Veronica nodded. Mr. Universe proceeded to ask the exact same 3 questions that he asked Trixie a little while back. Veronica began answering the 3 questions in the following order:

“I desire myself, whether or not I would be liked by someone or not. But it is my friends and family that I desire most. The wish I would have in the world would be to not have these freckles, but mainly I want to meet someone who would talk to me deeply, despite my appearance. I definitely would not use these powers to brag to others, I would keep it to myself, if I have to do good in this world as you state, then so be it.”

“You have passed the trials,” the cosmic primordial entity spoke pleasantly after Veronica showed her true honesty and how she actually felt while answering these questions. The entire world around her went blank black and faded away.

A few seconds later, Veronica opened her eyes and found herself on the sidewalk. She only fainted for a matter of seconds, not even in terms of minutes lying there. She started to head towards the convenience store, as Luis and Allison arrived.

“Veronica, are you feeling okay?” Allison asked as Luis followed along into the convenience store with her.

Veronica was beginning to feel a craving, starting to develop within her mouth and stomach. She went towards the slushie machines and saw that there were about 6 different flavours. The flavours consisted of blueberry, green lime, Sprite, Coca Cola, banana and Fanta Orange. She picked up three jumbo sized containers, filled up each jumbo container, then laid them down on the counter to cash out. She headed towards the freezer section, got tons of freeze pops, ice cream sandwiches.

“Veronica?” Luis looked in shock on how much she was buying in terms of cold drinks and snacks. “You sure you are feeling okay?”

“I’m fine guys,” Veronica smiled. “Just having one of those days, just need something to cool myself off with.”

“Erhm okay….,” Allison and Luis spoke at the same time as she cashed out and took her slushies and cold snacks.

They exited the convenience store. Veronica sat down by the curb right by the store. She raised up her jumbo slushie container and drank it immediately. She was drinking nonstop, as Luis and Allison were witnessing this. She finished the entire jumbo slushie and did not experience a brain freeze or even cheek freeze at all. She threw the empty cup in a nearby trash can. She proceeded onto the next one, again drinking it in one go.

“You’re gonna get a huge brain freeze,” Luis warned her. “Are you sure you feel okay?”

Veronica ignored the statement, as she finished the second jumbo sized slushie and proceeded onto the third. Her feet, skin and body were starting to feel cold; it was as if temperature in the environment was dropping rapidly. It was a warm day out; the sidewalks were burning hot with barely any wind blowing that day. She finished her third jumbo sized slushie and threw it away in the trash can. Luis and Allison witnessed with opened mouths that, she did not experience a brain freeze or cheek freeze at all.

“Unreal!” Luis exclaimed. “What are you? I’ve known you all my life and I know you were sensitive to these kinds of things, experiencing brain freezes and all.”

As Veronica started eating the ice cream sandwiches and freeze pops, a transformation on herself was beginning to happen slowly. Her hair was beginning to get harder and harder, losing its silky touch. She began to feel the weight of her hair becoming a burden, since it was getting slightly harder to raise her head up in a proper posture position. She touched her hair and noticed that it felt like icicles and she began to run away, as she witnessed her skin getting icicles slowly around it. Luis and Allison witnessed that, dropping the ice cream sandwiches on the sidewalk.

“I gotta go, guys,” Veronica stammered. “Got to check on Trixie.”

“Veronica!” Luis tried to chase after her. “Wait!”

“I will go after her, Luis,” Allison stopped Luis. “Go to your archery tournament. I will let you know how’s she doing.”

“You sure?” Luis said. Allison nodded and began to chase after her. Luis sighed.

Veronica headed around the corner of the street and was gone before Allison could get to her. Her feet were beginning to feel brittle and cold in her shoes, also numbness started to develop around the soles of her feet and toes. She took off her shoes, since she needed breathing space for her feet, and she laid them on the hot warm sidewalk, but it did not really help at all. The soles of her feet weren’t getting enough blood flowing, constrained by the cold and numbness. She carried her shoes and began to run through the trails, heading back home.

As she ran and ran through the trails in the woods, the plants and grass around her started to turn into ice as her feet had contact with the ground. She witnessed that ice trail was surrounding her as she kept running and running. She continued running but suddenly-

  THUMP!

Her foot got caught in a branch, that was sticking out from the stump of a tree, which was at the edge of a soil cliff. She tumbled down towards the lake. She screamed as she lost hold of her shoes and before she hit the lake, an extraordinary, magnificent event happened. She unleashed a long-curved sheet of an ice wave, which helped her slide within it and prevented her from getting wet. The ice sheet formed into an ice slide that helped her get to the edge of the lake and land safely back onto the soil ground. Her shoes ended up in a pile of mud, she sighed in a depressed tone, picking them up.
